Feelings…
Our country has been bombarded by feelings over the last week, but let me tell you something I’ve learned the hard way. Feelings will lead you in the wrong direction nine times out of ten.
I use to function solely on the way I felt. I responded to my husband and children and friends according to how I was feeling about them at the moment.
Oh, how I wish I could go back in time and change so many things I said or did!! But I am learning…
I thank God that Jesus didn’t follow His feelings. If He had, He wouldn’t have gone to the cross for any of us. None of us are worthy, and He knew that. He didn’t want to suffer, but He CHOSE to suffer. Three times He asked His Father to find a different way, knowing that there was only one way…the cross…suffering.
We are not above our Teacher. He suffered, and we will suffer IF we desire to be like Him.
So, here’s my advice: Follow Jesus!! Don’t follow the way you feel about someone or something. Stop yourself and ask, “Could there be a growth opportunity for me in this situation?” “Is there a way that I can glorify God by the way I respond?” “How can I use these circumstances to allow God to conform me into the image of His Son?” “How can I show this person the love of Christ even though we disagree?”
Let me tell you something, there are a WHOLE LOT OF UNLOVEABLES in the world. You might even be one of them!! But God CHOSE to die for you. Will you deny yourself and take up your cross and follow Him, or will you feed your feelings and follow your own desires?
We will never leave Christ’s mark on this world if we get caught up in the matters of this world. Second Timothy 2:4 says, “No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.” Let’s reset and FIX OUR EYES back ON JESUS!!!! I promise you won’t regret it!!
